Cymande

Together with  Supafly Festival we team up for an exclusive concert of Cymande.

Cymande is the most important British R&B/Soul group of their generation — a band so many people have heard, yet few actually know by name. Their music has been sampled endlessly, and they were among the very first to blend African rhythms with rock, funk, reggae, and soul.

In the early 1970s, a group of Black musicians came together in South London — many of them having migrated to the UK as children from the Caribbean. Led by Patrick Patterson (guitar, vocals) and Steve Scipio (bass, vocals), they formed Cymande: a band so unique and ahead of its time that, despite their success in the United States during the 1970s, it’s only in recent years that wider audiences have truly begun to appreciate their legacy.

The Cymande show is the opening concert of the Supafly Festival on Saturday, October 11.
