Bassline Resistance – From the Big Screen to the Bass Bins
Black Soil Film Festival, WORM and HipHopHuis join forces for Bassline Resistance, a powerful night exploring the political, social and musical force of soundsystem culture.
The evening begins with an exclusive screening of Babylon (1980), a cult classic that dives into racism, sound system culture, and Black British identity in South London. The screening will be introduced by Giuseppe Pipitone, Italian hip hop historian and author. His work explores the intersections of soundsystem culture, hip hop, and diasporic communities. His book Original London Style is an important reference for this context.
Afterwards, the bass takes over at WORM with an electrifying afterparty featuring:
- Masego Dub Soundsystem
- Samwho
- Sun.O.C.
